Have you ever wanted to give surfing a go or it has been a while and it's been something you would like to get back into??
We are running a Waves for Women every Friday at 7am & 10am.
If you book the 5 Lesson Flexi Pass you don't have to turn up every session, we send a text out the day before to see who can make it, you do the 5 sessions whenever you can :)
Must have basic swimming ability.
Classes start Friday mornings at 7am and 10am. Arrive 10 minutes before to get organised, fitted wetsuit etc.
A text will be sent out Thursday evening confirming who can make it. Flexi pass participants do not have to come every week.
Our coaches are up early on Friday morning to check conditions and will send a text to participants at 6.30am advising the ideal location (either North Wall, Park Beach, Jetty Beach or Gallows Beach depending on conditions)
Learn everything surfing in a safe fun environment including, technique, wave selection, surf safety, surf rescues, identifying rips, currents and assessing conditions at local beaches. We have soft boards, rash shirts and wetsuits, if you have your own feel free to bring it along.
What do you need?
- If you have your own wetsuit / rash shirt we encourage you to bring it along but welcome to use ours
Frequently Asked Questions
I have never surfed before, can I join?
Yes our coaches are there to keep you safe and build confidence in the water, whilst having fun and learning new skills.
Can I bring my own surfboard?
Yes, if you have a board you are welcome to bring it. We will always have one of ours on hand if you need it.
What happens if the waves are too big or conditions are not suitable?
We are always checking the conditions and making sure it is safe to operate classes. If we think it is not safe to operate we notify participants that the session has to be postponed. We will make up any missed sessions that we have to cancel at a later date.
How many lessons do I need?
Everyone is different but we recommend booking for at least 5 lessons. Surfing is fun at every level and we never stop learning. Some women treat Waves for Women sessions like a yoga session, mental health day or just to have a laugh and be around like minded people.
